“Yunhwa,” a brand conceived by fashion designer Yoo Ji-yeon, the eldest daughter of Yoo Jae-cheol—widely known as the “presidential embalmer”—was created with the intention of producing high-quality burial garments. The brand takes its name from her father’s Buddhist funeral service company, Yunhwahoe.
Master Yoo Jae-cheol was designated as Korea’s first National Master of Traditional Funeral Arts in 2017. He has personally led the embalming and funeral procedures for six former presidents, as well as Buddhist cremation ceremonies (dabisik) conducted by the Jogye Order.
Notable funeral cases led by Yoo Jae-cheol include:
Presidents Choi Kyu-hah, Chun Doo-hwan, Roh Tae-woo, Kim Young-sam, Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun
Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee
Hyundai Group Chairman Chung Mong-hun
Entertainer Song Hae
Given this remarkable legacy and the established reputation of Yunhwahoe, Yoo Ji-yeon chose to inherit the same name, Yunhwa, for her upcoming premium burial garment brand.
